Web applications are the most common way attackers get in. This hands-on web application penetration testing training teaches you how web vulnerabilities work, how to find them and how to report them, using the same approach our consultants apply in real engagements.
Who should attend
- Aspiring and junior penetration testers
- Security analysts moving into offensive security
- Developers who want to understand how their applications are attacked
- QA and application security engineers
- After this program, testers can continue with our API Security Testing or Mobile Application Penetration Testing training.
Prerequisites
No prior penetration testing experience is required. Participants should understand basic web concepts (HTML, HTTP requests and responses, forms and cookies) and be comfortable with the command line. Basic programming knowledge in any language is helpful.
What you will learn
- How web applications work: HTTP, sessions, cookies and browser security
- Setting up and using a web testing proxy and common tooling
- The OWASP Top 10 and how each category appears in real applications
- Injection flaws (SQL and others) and cross-site scripting
- Authentication and session management weaknesses
- Broken access control and insecure direct object references
- Business logic flaws and workflow abuse
- Server-side request forgery, file upload and other server-side issues
- Testing methodology based on the OWASP Web Security Testing Guide
- Writing clear findings and remediation advice
Hands-on labs
Participants practice in a safe lab environment with intentionally vulnerable applications, working through realistic scenarios rather than only watching demonstrations. Exercises follow a full test: mapping the application, finding and exploiting vulnerabilities and writing findings.
What you receive
- Course materials and lab access
- A reusable testing checklist and methodology
- A certificate of attendance
